Today was a crappy day

I got home before the Spousal Equivalent... to the smell of.... well... poop... in the air.

There it was.  Smeared under Misty's cage.  poop.

I took her out.... and quickly realized that she wasn't feeling well.  (If you know what I mean.

The SE cleaned up the kitchen and poured food.  She didn't want it.

So I knew that something was up.

I soon realized what.

When she barfed.  Twice.

And the barf smelled like poop.  This is not a normal problem for her....  So I knew that I didn't have to worry on that matter.

But in the last two hours I:

  • cleaned up 3 piles of poopy vomit
  • cleaned the rags that were used to clean up said vomit
  • ended up just throwing those out....
  • shampooed the rugs.
  • scrubbed my tub.
In the end, I found some cash, handed it to the SE and sent him to Hardees.  I'm over trying to figure out what to eat.

Apparently tonight's going to be low key, making sure that Misty gets better.

I just pray that I'm done cleaning up dog vomit!

Another year begins....

The students are back on campus.  Classes start on Wednesday.  This means my days of leaving early and wearing flip flops are done.

I conveniently forgot about this fact when I was getting my wardrobe ready for he week.  (Yes, I was over enthusiastic and got my wardrobe together for a week at a time.  It saves me time in the morning!)  Now I have to look at my choices again and gear them more toward being more professional.

In another balance of good news/bad news....

I clean the house this weekend.  Seriously, it hasn't looked this good in years.

the bad news?  DUST!!  I've been in the throws of allergy hell for two days.

And now... off to prepare for the start of classes!

That didn't turn out like I hoped....

Yesterday, a very wonderful friend came over to help me dye my hair.  I was using a rather bright dye, and wanted to make sure that I covered it all.

We took my box of L'oreal Excellece Creme and we did my hair.

The timer went off....

And then I spent at least five minutes trying to get water to come out of the shower.

I resorted to dumping bucket of water over my head while the Spousal Equivalent fixed the shower....

It was comical.  I'm shouting from the bathroom for help.  He's got tools and is taking apart the shower head while I'm dumping water on my head.  the dog's barking, and trying to get in the tub.  She then tried to drink the dye-colored water... which made of toss her out of the tub...

it was chaos!

Thanks to the delay in rinsing, the effect is a bit darker than I anticipated....

But it's nice!

And dumping buckets of water over your head..... not the most effective way to rinse.

My gracious... it's Friday!

Well, the theme of my week is this:

Yes, it's been that kind of week.

But it's Friday.  So that's a bit of a relief.

My plans for the weekend include exercising and washing laundry.

I think I'll get a hair cut and use the dye that's in my shopping cart.

(The ice cream cone thing in my cart is a wallet.  It's SO COOL!  I got it here.  I've been taking cash out of my account after payday and budgeting it into the envelopes that are sewn into the wallet.  I don't overspend my account anymore!)

Now that the chaos of the pre-academic year prep is underway, I'm going to have to plan accordingly.  I need to take more walkies with the Misty.  I need to do my best to get at least 7000 steps in a day.  I need to make sure that I have fruit in the house (and emergency chocolate at times).

Now if you will excuse me.  I need to count down the hours until I can go home and get puppy snuggles, and snuggles from the Spousal Equivalent!

The F-word....

Failure....

I had a pretty bad weigh in today.

And, to toss out another F word, it's mostly my fault.

It's summer, which makes me swell like a balloon.... my hormones are all over the place...

But mainly, I was apathetic and lazy.  Incredibly lazy....

Well, tomorrow is a new day...

Apathy...

I don't know what it is with this time of year... but I am in the clutches of apathy...

I took the summer off of my church choir.  Well, we had a vacation from it.  A few weeks of busy weekends kept us away from Sunday service.

It's that time of year.  The time of year to return to activities.  Summer fun is over.  It's time to go back....

But of course, I'm struck with the typical, yearly anxiety and apathy.  Choir rehearsal is on Thursday, and I'm filled with my yearly dread.  I don't want to go back.  Why do I have to?  Would they even miss me if I wasn't there?

Is choir practice a chore?  No.  What it is: a change in my routine.

It's time to transition from the summer routine to the fall routine.

And it actually is a little scary.

First World Issues

Today we went to the movies.  When we came back, I shouted for joy because our toilet flushed!  I laughed when I loudly proclaimed that the toilet flushed!  But it's only funny when it doesn't.. and you don't have a convenient outhouse.

Strange?  Well, it's not for us.  Once every few months (sooner if we have a lot of rain) our toilet ceases to flush.  Water rushes into the bowl.... but nothing leaves.  Gross?  It is!

Why?  Well, when we moved into our apartment there was a large tree right out front.  It's gone now, but the roots (and the roots of other trees) remain.  Apparently the roots have played havoc with the plumbing.

This is the joy of living in an apartment.  This isn't the first time that this has happened.  This won't be the last.  (Moving away requires a credit check and deposits that we don't have!)  When there is an issue, the apartment people tend to get someone out here rather quickly.

But why does it always happen after 7 PM on a Friday or Saturday?

Well, the heavens opened up again, so lets hope that I can still flush the toilet later on!
